Skunk2 High Performance Camshafts Description
Skunk2 Racing camshaft profiles are designed using the latest computerized valvetrain and modeling techniques to maximize horsepower and torque. The Skunk2 camshafts are designed utilizing years of racing experience. These camshaft blanks are cast from the same foundries used by auto manufacturers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi, and utilize the latest in Japanese chill-casting technology. Skunk2 Racing camshafts are ground to exact specification using CNC cam grinding machines and are subjected to hours of performance and durability testing. Skunk2 Racing camshafts must pass stringent quality control standards that exceed Honda Civic OE requirements.

Stage I: Profiles are designed to offer the widest possible powerband and be compatible with Honda Civic factory valvetrain components. These camshafts are designed to retain stock idle and are currently CARB EO-pending. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valve springs is recommended. Stage I profiles are relatively easy to tune for maximum power output.

Stage II: Profiles are more aggressive than Stage I profiles, and are designed for Honda civics with modified engines operating at higher rev ranges. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valvetrain components is required for proper operation. Stock idle and emission characteristics may be slightly compromised, but fair-to-good driveability allows them to still be used on dual-purpose vehicles. Proper tuning, an upgraded intake system, and an exhaust system are required in order to maximize the potential of these camshafts.

Stage III: Pure Civic racing profiles not meant for street cars. Extensive engine work is required for the proper functioning of these Skunk2 camshafts. These camshafts are special order only (please call).

Turbo: Turbo profiles are designed for Honda Civic engines with forced induction (supercharger or turbocharger). Aggressive lift and valve opening/closing motions allow these Skunk2 cams to maximize power with a minimum amount of overlap. Each profile is designed with extensive input from the top racers in the sport compact industry.

Pro Series: Skunk2 Pro Series Camshafts profile designs are derived from highly successful racing efforts, and utilize the latest in cam profile technology. Pro Series camshafts feature patent pending profile designs that dramatically improve horsepower, torque, throttle response, and valvetrain stability. Pro Series camshafts feature seamless crossovers between low-speed and high-speed cam lobes. Skunk2 Pro Series camshafts utilize newly designed camshaft cores that feature increased torsional strength, improved durability, and reduced friction. For all Pro Series camshafts, you need to upgrade to a Skunk2 valvetrain. Also, for Pro Series camshafts, Skunk2 recommends using their Pro Series valve springs instead of the regular ones.

The Pro Series Stage 1 cam is already rated by experts as "the best all around" camshaft.

The Skunk2 Pro Series Stage 2 offers significant gains over all other semi-race camshafts tested. This camshaft is similar in aggressiveness to the regular Stage III and is special order only (please call).

Note: We don't recommend using oversized valves with anything but the regular Stage I cams.
