Finding the optimal exhaust for your Civic is made easy here at PRO Civic. The Honda Civic exhausts we carry are amongst the most aesthetically pleasing in regards to looks and sound, as well as get you the best possible horsepower gains.
Honda Civic Exhaust Components
How does a Honda Civic performance exhaust and performance headers give you more HP gains? Civic performance exhausts have wider tubing than what is included in a stock setup. Wider tubing allows for the exhausts fumes that are produced as a result of the engine combustion to escape at a faster rate. How does exhaust fumes leaving at a faster rate give you more HP gains? To put it simply, it creates less resistance on your Civic's engine (at a higher RPM band); hence, it allows your engine to create more horsepower. An article of interest may be the Horespower vs Torque article and the Civic Upgrading FAQ. All of the exhaust we carry produce similar amounts of horsepower gains (around 7 to 11 HP dependent on your Civic).
The second important issue regarding Civic exhaust systems is the sound they produce. Aftermarket exhaust systems produce a raspier and more sporty sound then what is produced by a stock Civic exhaust. Most product descriptions contain a maximum decibel range. The following is a table that illustrates with examples the decibel ranges:
95 db: A large UPS type truck accelerating.
87 db: Loud music on a stock stereo.
80 db: A noisy intersection.
We at PRO Civic have selected exhausts that we feel have a great tone; exhausts, that we would be willing to put on our Civics.
Lastly, a Civic's look can be enhanced with a performance muffler tip, which is included with all our exhausts systems. The muffler tip is what you see sticking out of the rear of your Civic. The images of all the aftermarket Civic exhausts we carry can be viewed at a higher resolution on each of the product description pages.

Beyond a Civic Exhaust: Catalytic Converter or Test Pipe
Want to make the exhaust fumes escape your Civic even faster? A high flow catalytic converter or a test pipe will allow for more Horsepower gains. A catalytic converter is a device in-between your Civic's header and exhaust system (the position is different on some Civics). The function of a catalytic converter is to clean engine emissions, in other words, to reduce pollution. A high flow catalytic converter will also clean engine emissions, but as the name implies, will allow for the fumes to go through at a higher rate. To completely eliminate the bottle neck created by catalytic converter, a test pipe can be used to replace your Civic's catalytic converter. Please note that test pipes and catalytic converters may not be legal in all states (please check your local laws).
