MSD Sport Compact Ignition (SCI) Description
MSD's new SCI ignition system was designed just for us Honda Civic enthusiasts! The MSD Sport Compact Ignition (SCI) is the ultimate ignition for high-revving smaller displacement engines like the ones found in Hondas. At higher RPMs, stock inductive ignitions cannot produce full power sparks, resulting in a loss of power or even a top end miss. The MSD SCI Ignition solves this problem by delivering full spark power at any RPM!

Whether your Civic is idling through traffic or ripping through the gears at 10,000+ rpm, each spark of an SCI Ignition is at full power. High powered sparks mean complete combustion which puts more power to the ground. Below 3,000 rpm, the SCI Ignitions produce a series of sparks that last for 20 degress of crankshaft rotation. This series of sparks will smooth the idle, produce quick starts and deliver lightning quick throttle response. The Rev Limiter version (SCI-L) features MSD's popular built-in Soft Touch Rev Control feature. The Soft Touch Rev Control will precisely limit the rpm at an adjustable amount for overrev protection.

The MSD Sport Compact Ignition is suited for street or track use and represents a great value for 1988-2000 Civics (or engine swaps from that year range). You really don't need to bother with getting a more expensive ignition unless you have a specific need for one.

  • Up to 470 volts is delivered to the primary side of the coil.
  • Multiple spark series below 3,000 RPM.
  • 50 State Legal (CARB Approved, OBD-II Legal).
  • RPM Range: 14,000 RPM with 14.4 Volts.
  • Energy Output Max: 105-115 mJ per spark.
  • Voltage Output Max: 460-480 Volts Primary, 45,000 Volts Secondary (Blaster Coil).
For the ultimate street/track ignition system, try combining this with an MSD distributor cap/rotor kit, external Blaster SS coil, and some MSD Super Conductor spark plug wires!

Notes: The optional harness kit is for 1992-2000 Civics only and makes installation easier and more orderly when you are NOT using an external MSD coil.
