Brembo Gran Turismo Big Brake Kit Description
The Brembo GT line of big brake kits is the best on the market, period. The Brembo GT line is dedicated to the most demanding customers. The GT braking systems originated from racing components, consisting of a ventilated, integral or composite disc, available drilled or slotted, 4 piston aluminium calipers, a complete set of high performance brake pads, metal braid tubes and high quality small parts.

  • High Performance friction material that last longer and provide the highest level of performance.
  • Available with red, black, or silver calipers.
All Brembo Big Brake kits are ONLY for your front two wheels. Why does Brembo do this? Through a lot of research, Brembo has determined that increasing the rear brake power is neither cost efficient or effective. Most braking powers comes from the front, and making the rear brakes too strong can upset brake balancing and handling during braking.

Brembo GT Big Brake kits come with ultra high performance "2 piece" rotors, available in either drilled or slotted configurations. They come standard with a light gold anti-corrosive finish and are regarded as the best in the industry.

The "GT Junior" kits are a less expensive version of the regular GT kits and are not available for all applications. The main difference is that the rotors you will get in the GT Junior kits do not have a "floating" aluminum center hat, and thus are considered to be "1 piece" rotors. They do not offer quite the same performance or looks as the 2 piece kits, but everything else is virtually identical.

Drilled / Slotted Notes: On these big brake kits, there is not too much difference between drilled and slotted rotors in terms of usable performance, it is mainly which one you prefer in terms of looks.

Fitment: Important! You most likely will NOT be able to use your stock rims with these kits. In general, Brembo recommends 17" or larger rims, but there is an easy way to measure your wheels so you can be 100% sure they will work. Here's how:
  1. Each Brembo big brake kit has three critical measurements that must be satisfied. We will call these measurements A, B, and C.
  2. To get the A, B, and C measurements for your kit, select your application from the drop-down menu and look at the notes that appear below the pricing information.
  3. Look at the diagram below to see where each measurment is.
  4. Take a ruler and measure from the center of the wheel bore out to the number of milimeters specified by the B measurement. In the diagram, this is the point where the green line intersects the blue line.
  5. Now, measure from the previous point to the back of the wheel spoke. In the diagram, this is the blue line. For correct fitment, this length must be 3mm or more than the number of milimeters specified by the A measurement.
  6. Repeat the previous 2 steps, but use the C measurement instead of the B. Also make sure that the rim can fit the full C measurement length (the green line), with at least 3mm to spare.

Bed-In / Burnishing Instructions: Important! Any time different friction materials or discs are introduced, a bedding procedure should be carried out.
  1. While the vehicle is stationary, pump the brakes to ensure a firm pedal.
  2. Drive the vehicle cautiously to test fit and function.
  3. The brakes should be smooth, with no vibrations, judder, etc.
  4. Drive the vehicle to a remote area and perform about 10 brake applications of 3-second duration, DO NOT DRAG THE BRAKES. Use light/medium deceleration with varying starting speeds (about 30 to 35 mph). After that, make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops (to 0 mph) from approximately 40 to 45 mph. The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the components without inducing thermal shock, and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces.
  5. After the repeated stops, drive the vehicle for about 15 minutes with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components.
  6. After the above process is completed, the system is ready for normal use.
  7. When the system achieves elevated brake temperatures for the first time, a slight increase in pedal travel and pedal effort may occur. After this first "fade" and proper cooling, the system will maintain its optimum performance at all temperatures.
