Hawk HP Plus Brake Pads Description
Hawk Performance's HP Plus brake pad compound is ideal for Autocross and Track Day drivers looking for a high performance race compound that can take the heat of the track and get you home safely without having to change the pads.

HP Plus utilizes a unique Ferro-Carbon, high-tech friction material that was developed and manufactured for sport driving in autocross, Solo II and "track day" applications. The Ferro-Carbon formulation offers lower wear rates and higher torque values than other competitive materials.

Extremely high coefficient of friction makes HP Plus the perfect upgrade over stock for high performance streetcars used in autocross competition or that experience repetitive, heavy braking.

Key Features:
  • Extremely High Friction Output
  • Fade Resistant
  • Worthy for Autocross & Club Racing Events
All Hawk Performance HP Plus / Autocross brake pads provide a limited lifetime warranty, ensuring products to be free of defects from manufacturer's workmanship and materials.

Notes on Friction: Due to the dramatic friction levels produced by this product to achieve "race-level" braking, rotor wear, noise, dust, and pad life may be affected.

Notes on Applications: If an application references ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), then you need to check if your Civic has ABS. The easiest way to tell is by opening your hood and checking for a metallic box with a lot of metal lines coming out of it. This is the ABS unit. Also, for applications that reference rear brake pads, please check to make sure you have rear discs, not drums. To avoid brake imbalance, do not just upgrade the rear pads (purchase the front pads also).

Bed-In / Burnishing Instructions: Important! Any time different friction materials or discs are introduced, a bedding procedure should be carried out.
  1. While the vehicle is stationary, pump the brakes to ensure a firm pedal.
  2. Drive the vehicle cautiously to test fit and function.
  3. The brakes should be smooth, with no vibrations, judder, etc.
  4. Drive the vehicle to a remote area and perform about 10 brake applications of 3-second duration, DO NOT DRAG THE BRAKES. Use light/medium deceleration with varying starting speeds (about 30 to 35 mph). After that, make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops (to 0 mph) from approximately 40 to 45 mph. The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the components without inducing thermal shock, and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces.
  5. After the repeated stops, drive the vehicle for about 15 minutes with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components.
  6. After the above process is completed, the system is ready for normal use.
  7. When the system achieves elevated brake temperatures for the first time, a slight increase in pedal travel and pedal effort may occur. After this first "fade" and proper cooling, the system will maintain its optimum performance at all temperatures.
